The intersection of GLP-1 with Hair & Skin

Topical beauty influencers have set a high bar for self-care beauty rituals—how is the nutricosmetic segment catching up? From delivery formats and flavor profiles to fragrance and texture, what is needed to evolve ingestible solutions into a truly joyful daily ritual? South Korean trends continue to redefine topical skincare. How are these K-Beauty principles being translated into the nutricosmetic industry?
Integrated "In & Out" Journeys
We are moving away from isolated products toward "integrated journeys." What evidence supports the superior efficacy of oral-topical pairings? Furthermore, how can nutricosmetics be better integrated into the dermatology space, accompanying at-home or in-clinic procedures? Is there a difference between different regions in the world?
Nutricosmetics as a Platform for Inclusivity
Skin is the most visible representation of our diversity. How do you research, develop, and market ingredients in a way that thoughtfully addresses differences in gender, ethnicity, and life stages? Any trends you are seeing or innovations you are excited about?
AI & The Feasibility of Hyper-Personalization
In the era of AI, how close are we to truly personalizing "beauty from within"? Beauty from Within and the Rise of the “Well-Beauty” Paradigm: Towards Integrated In & Out Strategies for Healthy Longevity
10) The “skinification of hair” has transformed the category from a purely cosmetic space into a much more science-driven and holistic one (1). Consumers are no longer satisfied with claims focused only on shine, hydration or repair. Instead, they increasingly want to understand the underlying factors influencing hair quality and scalp condition, reflecting a broader shift towards preventive beauty and overall wellbeing.
Within nutricosmetics, this evolution is accelerating the demand for “beauty-from-within” solutions that support hair and scalp health through more targeted and functional approaches. Consumers are increasingly looking for products focused on growth and density, scalp balance, strengthening and long-term hair resilience, while also expecting visible and measurable results.
At the same time, the category is evolving beyond beauty-focused positioning alone. Consumers are becoming more aware of how stress, sleep quality, hormonal fluctuations, inflammation and lifestyle can directly impact visible beauty outcomes, including hair quality and skin appearance. As a result, “root cause” claims linked to stress-related hair shedding, healthy ageing, microbiome balance and emotional wellbeing are gaining significant relevance within the nutricosmetic space (2).
This reflects a broader movement where beauty and wellness are becoming increasingly interconnected. Younger consumers in particular are adopting a more holistic perspective, viewing beauty not only as appearance, but also as a reflection of emotional balance, healthy ageing and overall lifestyle (3). However, while consumers increasingly value wellness-oriented concepts, they still expect clinically supported and visible beauty benefits. This is pushing the category towards more evidence-based solutions capable of delivering both functional and aesthetic outcomes.
The connection between emotional wellbeing and beauty is becoming especially important for the future of nutricosmetics. Concepts linked to stress management, mood balance and sleep quality are progressively moving into the beauty-from-within space, creating new opportunities for integrated and preventive approaches. Consumers increasingly expect ingestible solutions that support beauty both externally and internally rather than isolated cosmetic benefits alone.
At the same time, personalization is emerging as another important evolution within the category. Consumers are increasingly seeking products and recommendations tailored to their specific needs, lifestyles and beauty concerns (4). Artificial intelligence and digital tools may accelerate this shift by helping brands better understand individual consumer profiles and create more targeted beauty and wellness strategies.
Looking ahead, oral beauty and oral wellness may become the next areas to undergo a similar “skinification” transformation. Consumers are beginning to approach oral health through the lens of microbiome balance, inflammation and systemic wellbeing rather than simply hygiene. Similar to what happened in skincare and now haircare, oral care is evolving towards a more preventive, science-backed and wellness-oriented category, creating new opportunities for beauty-from-within innovation.
Overall, the future of nutricosmetics appears increasingly interconnected, combining beauty, emotional wellbeing and long-term health into a more complete and personalised consumer experience, while maintaining a strong focus on efficacy, visible results and scientific substantiation.
