Bart has a long-standing history in the dietary supplement and pharmaceutical industries, focusing on innovative ingredient solutions. Recognizing the growing demand for enhanced bioavailability in supplements, we strategically invested in liposomal technology, launching our Liposovit® brand. Liposomes offer a scientifically validated method to improve nutrient absorption, making them a breakthrough in supplementation. Today, Bart is known for providing high-quality, stable liposomal powders, allowing supplement manufacturers to create superior formulations. Our focus on research, product development, and global partnerships has positioned us as a trusted leader in this field.

Liposovit® is known for enhanced absorption compared to standard vitamins and minerals. Beyond this, what makes it different from other delivery systems, and has its efficacy been tested in clinical trials or studies?

Liposovit® technology is designed to protect active ingredients, enhance absorption, and ensure stability, addressing common challenges faced by standard vitamins and minerals. Unlike conventional forms, where nutrients may degrade in the digestive tract before reaching the bloodstream, our liposomal encapsulation protects the active compounds, improving their bioavailability.

Liposovit® products have undergone extensive in-vitro and in-vivo testing, with studies confirming their superior absorption. Notably, Liposovit®-C has been tested in clinical trials, with results published in Applied Science, confirming its enhanced bioavailability (1). We continuously collaborate with research institutions and our clients to further evaluate and optimize efficacy.

Can you explain how the liposomal delivery system enhances nutrient absorption and effectiveness, and why this is beneficial for supplement manufacturers?

Liposomal technology works by encapsulating active ingredients within phospholipid-based vesicles, which mimic natural cell membranes. This structure allows nutrients to bypass harsh stomach conditions, facilitating better absorption in the small intestine.

For supplement manufacturers, this translates into products that are modern and meet current supplementation standards. They offer enhanced effectiveness, require lower dosages, and provide a competitive advantage. Liposovit® is available in powder form, making it highly versatile—it can be used in HPMC capsules, tablets, soft-gel capsules, sachets, and liquids, offering multiple formulation possibilities.

What are the key products in the Liposovit® portfolio, and which industries or product categories benefit the most from them? How do manufacturers integrate Liposovit® into their formulations?

Liposovit® includes a wide range of liposomal vitamins and minerals, such as Liposovit®-C (liposomal vitamin C), Liposovit®-D3, Liposovit®-K2, Liposovit®-Fe (Iron), Liposovit®-Mg, and Liposovit®-Collagen. These products cater to various supplement segments, including:

  • Beauty & Skincare – Liposovit®-Collagen supports skin hydration, anti-aging, and overall skin health.
  • Active Lifestyle & Sports Nutrition – Liposovit®-Mg, Liposovit®-Fe, and Liposovit®-L-arginine play key roles in muscle recovery, bone health, and energy production.

  • Regulatory shifts – Many markets are raising quality standards, and liposomal products align with these stricter regulations.

Is Bart working on any new developments in liposomal technology? What are the biggest challenges in advancing next-generation liposomal ingredients, and how is Bart addressing them?

Innovation is at the core of Bart’s strategy. We are actively developing new liposomal formulations, including multi-nutrient liposomal blends and the encapsulation of new ingredients in liposomal form.

Some of the challenges we are tackling include:

  • Enhancing the stability of liposomal powders – Ensuring long shelf life while maintaining high bioavailability.
  • Expanding applications – We are optimizing liposomal technology for different dosage forms, including tablets, gummies, effervescent powders, and shots.
  • Encapsulating new ingredients – Our R&D team is working on applying liposomal technology to a broader range of active compounds, expanding beyond traditional vitamins and minerals.
  • Scalability – As demand grows, we focus on optimizing production efficiency while maintaining premium quality standards.

Biova's egg membrane-derived ingredients find applications in several key areas:

  • Nutraceuticals: One of the primary applications of Biova's ingredients is in the dietary supplements market. Our ingredients are used in products designed to support joint health, skin & hair health, and overall wellness.
  • Cosmetics and Personal Care: Biova's ingredients are utilized in the cosmetic industry, particularly in skincare products. They can be used in formulations aimed at improving skin elasticity, hydration, and overall appearance.
  • Pet Nutrition: Biova also extends its ingredient applications to the pet supplement market, offering products that support joint health and mobility in animals.

How does Biova ensure the quality and safety of its ingredients throughout the process, from collecting egg membranes to producing the final water-soluble powdered product?

Biova is in a unique position when it comes to quality assurance and controls. We work with some of the largest egg breaking facilities in the USA. We are vertically integrated with the egg breaking facilities and collect the membranes on site at the breaker. The eggs are broken, and the shells move directly into our patented equipment for membrane removal, before being taken to our plant for further processing.

We have strict controls in place to ensure quality and safety of our ingredients. Additionally, we undergo voluntary audit by the FDA and USDA each year to ensure the highest manufacturing standards.
